KNOTIX
A rugged data-logging wearable for sailors, synchronizing biometric effort with technical performance to drive objective post-session analysis.
ABOUT OUR PROJECT
THE PROBLEM
High-performance sailing currently suffers from a "data disconnect." While boat telemetry exists, there is no integrated way to correlate an athlete's physiological strain with specific technical maneuvers.
Without synchronized, high-fidelity logging, post-race debriefs remain subjective. Coaches and athletes cannot objectively analyze how physical fatigue directly impacts the efficiency of a tack or jibe, leading to missed opportunities for optimization in training and competition.
OUR SOLUTION
Knotix is a High-Fidelity Biopotential Logger designed to bridge the gap between physiological strain and sailing performance. Moving beyond consumer-grade smartwatches that only provide averaged heart rates, our IP66-rated system integrates a custom analog front-end (AD8232) to capture the raw electrocardiographic (ECG) waveform. This allows us to perform precise Heart Rate Variability (HRV) analysis to objectively quantify Central Nervous System fatigue.
Engineered with a Store & Forward architecture, the dual-core ESP32 logs 10Hz GPS telemetry, IMU posture data, and high-frequency biopotentials directly to an internal SD Card to guarantee zero packet loss in the marine environment. Post-session, the haptic interface triggers a local Wi-Fi Access Point, seamlessly transferring the synchronized CSV logs to athletes and coaches for data-driven biomechanical debriefs.
TARGET USERS
From high-performance sailing academies to passionate sailors looking to accelerate their technical evolution.
ENVIRONMENT
Engineered for the high-velocity, salt-saturated environments of modern competitive sailing. From the high-G maneuvers of foiling classes to the constant spray of dinghy racing, Knotix is designed with IP65-rated housing to provide reliable data logging where standard consumer electronics fail.
SUCCESS
Moving beyond "gut feeling" to evidence-based training. Success for Knotix means providing the precise data synchronization required to transform a subjective post-race debrief into a technical evolution, shortening the learning curve for athletes and optimizing performance through high-fidelity logging.
